Coffee is definitely an essential for many Filipinos - myself included. Although hindi naman ako ganun ka-picky with my coffee but wouldn't it better mga ka-grocery moms knowing na ang kapeng iniinom natin is 100% local, directly sourced from Filipino farmers across the country? That's exactly why Lokal Coffee was created. Isa ang Lokal Coffee sa mga brands na available sa The Red Basket, an Asian online store that was formed during the pandemic primarily to help some small businesses including local farmers in utilizing digital technology to sell their products. I was able to try their Sagada Coffee Arabica Blend and Batangas Coffee Barako Blend, both in grounds. I've got to say that I enjoyed the Batangas coffee more as it has a strong taste and intense flavor. Perfect sya for morning pick-me-ups. If you're interested to try their selection of locally-sourced coffee beans and grounds, plus other essential Asian grocery items, you may visit The Red Basket on Facebook or follow them at @theredbasketph on Instagram.

Obsession yata ni hubby ang dumaan muna sa Army Navy bago umuwi sa bahay from work, and because of that nakakolekta na rin kami ng marami-raming glass jars. Sa mga hindi familiar, the restaurant serves most of their drinks such as milk teas and cold brews in reusable glass mason jars. Nag-isip ako ng mga pwede kong gawin sa mga jars at dahil super hilig kong mag-organize, I decided to use them as containers for wet and dry goods particularly yung mga madalas naming ginagamit sa pagluluto kagaya ng salt, pepper, cooking oil or even for coffee, cereal, and powdered drinks na nakalagay lang sa dining table namin since we live in a small space. Para naman sa nice visual element and to create clarity na rin, nag-print ako ng labels sa sticker paper. Super satisfied ako with how everything came out. This is definitely a good way to repurpose containers we already have instead of buying new ones, plus unlike plastic containers kasi, glass jars will not harbor bacteria or leach toxins into the food product. Glass is stable and will not be affected by heat during normal usage. Share nyo rin mga ka-grocery moms how you reuse glass jars at home.
Ever since I started wearing makeup, blush na siguro ang pinaka-favorite kong make-up product. For me mga ka-grocery moms, it's like a touch of happiness for the cheeks. Even now that I wear face mask every time I'm outdoors, I still believe that blush is one make-up product that'll make my face pop. Majority of the blushes I have are powder blushes but recently I've been finding myself reaching for cream blushes more. Just like this Glossier Cloud Paint in Dawn that I got as a gift nung Christmas na last week ko lang ginamit - and it's literally amazing! ●Comes in a cute, small squeeze tube ●Has a very lightweight, cream-gel texture ●Incredibly easy to tap onto the cheeks ●Intensely pigmented ●Only a tiny drop/pea size is needed for both cheeks ●Doesn't exaggerate the pores ●Long-lasting Glossier Cloud Paints are the OG makeup products from the brand. These are seamless, buildable gel-cream blushes that are enjoyable to apply and easy to wear. Honestly mga ka-grocery moms, when I saw the color of this blush which is a bright medium orange, I thought there's no way it would work for my morena skin. Not until I started applying it on my cheeks and believe me when I say, its creamy formula blends like a dream. It glides over the skin and gives a nice plumped, dewy sheen. The only thing na hindi ko masyadong nagustuhan is, it's not easy to squeeze out the desired amount of product but overall, super nagustuhan ko sya the fact that it just instantly lifts my complexion. I'll definitely purchase more shades from this line. If you're interested to try this Glossier Cloud Paint in Dawn, it's available at BeautyMnl for P1,315. You may visit their website at beautymnl.com.
Kesong puti rin sya mga ka-grocery moms but with a more distinct flavor. Nag-isip ako ng pwede kong gawing recipe using the soft, gooey cheese. I decided to go for a pasta dish na syempre sobrang bilis lang lutuin. The ingredients I used are garlic, onions, tomatoes, bell pepper, skinless longganisa, spaghetti noodles, and Carabao Cheese Rennet. This pasta dish comes out light because of the tomatoes at wala rin siyang sauce but it still packs a lot of flavor. Slightly sweet from the longganisa at may mild tart flavor at creaminess from the cheese. You can order Mr.Moo's Carabao Cheese Rennet via Grab or FoodPanda.
Milk is definitely a staple in our home lalo pa at cereal ang paboritong breakfast ng aking 11-year-old son. Even for merienda, madalas siyang mag-request ng ice cold milk. Ako naman mga ka-grocery moms, I like to pour milk into my coffee or use it in some recipes kagaya ng sopas and other pasta dishes. Although there are a bunch of varieties of milk na readily available in the market, who wouldn't love fresh whole milk delivered to our doorsteps? That's where Mr.Moo's comes in. Mr.Moo's is a Filipino-owned dairy business. They offer a variety of raw and low-heat pasteurized fresh milk and its flavored variants, meron din silang gourmet cheese, butter, dips, milk tea drinks, ice cream cups and other innovative desserts. We've tried some of their bestsellers including their Chocolate Milk (P48-P159) na super nagustuhan ng anak ko. It's just fresh, creamy, and chocolately without being overly sweet. I personally enjoyed their pressed milk teas especially Okinawa and Cream Cheese (P89-P169). Yung Probiotic Yogurts (P189) naman nila come in different flavors are very creamy, slightly thick texture, and they have pleasantly sour and moderately sweet taste na perfect i-pair with cereal or granola. If you're interested to try their 100% natural dairy products, you can order through Mr.Moo's official website at www.mrmoosph.com . You may also visit Mr. Moo's on Facebook or follow them at @mrmoosph on Instagram.
Aside from their health benefits and portability, canned tuna and salmon are also versatile ingredients that you can add to a variety of recipes. You can add them to pasta, pizzas, and just like what I did, wraps. Alam nyo naman mga ka-grocery moms, I like making easy-to-prepare meals and snacks. For this recipe, bukod sa madali at mabilis lang i-prepare, it's also healthy and flavorful. It's definitely a filling meal that you and your family can enjoy at any time of the day or night. The ingredients are garlic, carrot, corn, bell pepper, eggs, whole wheat wraps, cooked white rice, and Bay of Gold Manuka-Smoked Salmon in Olive Oil. Bay of Gold Manuka-Smoked Salmon in Olive Oil is available in select supermarkets nationwide.
Can you guess mga ka-grocery moms, kung anong pantry staple ang convenient, packed with plenty of nutrients like Omega-3, protein, and vitamins, at may long shelf life? Your guess is as good as mine - it's canned tuna! Iba't ibang mga brands ng canned tuna ang widely available sa ating mga grocery stores, but how about premium quality canned tuna? Siguro ang pumapasok agad sa isip nyo, yung mga imported canned tuna products that are a little more expensive. As a matter of fact, there's Bay of Gold - a brand that offers Filipinos not only premium quality tuna made with the finest oils, herbs, & rich flavors, they also have canned salmon in delectable varieties at reasonable prices. I've actually tried most of them and if you ask me kung anong mga variants ang pinakanagustuhan ko, I would say their Salmon in Olive Oil with Dill (P149) which is part of their Salmon Line and Tuna Big Flakes in Olive Oil with Chili (P88) from their Gold Line. Overall, I was just impressed with the quality and with how flavorful, flaky, and masarap talaga without the fishy aftertaste, plus they come in easy-open tab lids pa. If you're interested to try their affordable luxury canned tuna and salmon, visit Bay of Gold on Facebook or follow them at @bayofgold on Instagram.
Recently, I've been really enjoying and slowly growing my collection of niche perfumes that give unique and distinct scents. Having a niche perfume is almost like owning a fragrance that other people don't have, or at least not a lot of people have. Sa mga ka-grocery moms ko dyan na hindi familiar sa niche perfumes and brands, they are produced on a much smaller scale. Hindi rin ito yung mga pabango na available sa mga popular department stores. Instead, mabibili mo sila sa mismong fragrance boutique, from a perfume specialist, or from their own websites. Also, niche fragrances use only the superior quality and oftentimes unusual natural ingredients. Kagaya na lang ng na-discover kong 100% Filipino-owned company that specializes in niche-quality perfumes - The Fragrance Tavern. Isa sa mga hinangaan ko from this company is aside from creating refined and smoothly blended perfumes, among their main goals is to prove that cruelty-free fragrances can compete toe-to-toe with fragrances that are tested on animals. At para patunayan ang pagmamahal nila sa mga hayop particularly sa mga rabbits, The Fragrance Tavern gives 40% of all profits to the rabbit rescue efforts of Rabbit Rehoming Philippines. If you ask me kung anong paborito kong fragrance from them; that would Eau de Vie Extrait de Parfum. This perfume has notes of grapefruit, quince, blood orange, clementine, jasmine, hyacinth, white musk, vetiver, virginian cedar, orris, amber. This definitely strikes the perfect balance of fruity, floral, and fresh scents. Isa rin ito sa mga most popular fragrances nila. If you're interested to try their cruelty-free perfumes, you may visit The Fragrance Tavern on Facebook or follow them at @thefragrancetavern here on Instagram.
