I love doing a routine check-up of my beauty stash as it helps me to not only maintain an organized stash but it also keeps me from using expired makeup and skincare. Ang napansin ko lang as I was taking inventory of my skincare items was just how many other products from the same brand had a permanent home in my skincare rotation. It's the brand known for their simple and straightforward formulations that are filled with some of the most tried-and-true actives out there. The best part pa is that they offer affordable products compared to many other options. Yes, I'm referring to, The Ordinary. Although aaminin ko ng nung una, isa rin ako sa mga na-intimidate with this brand because the names of their products refer to skin-care ingredients which sound like something out of an advanced medical textbook. But after doing a little research on how to incorporate some products into my routine and understanding what products are suitable for my skin concerns and needs, napatunayan ko talaga how effective they are. I've tried several of their products pero there are 3 na talagang nagustuhan ko as they truly helped my mildly-sensitive, combination skin na prone to regular hormonal breakouts, and lingering dark spots achieve clearer, smoother, and brighter skin! The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution, P780 I love how this made my skin look brighter and smoother. It's also the only product that helped with clearing my congested pores. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, P575 This one is extremely effective at minimizing and preventing acne. I like to apply it around my nose to treat blackheads and on my forehead and chin, where I’m prone to breakouts. The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA, P695 My favorite for gentle exfoliation. It does a great job getting rid of dead skin and leaves it looking instantly more radiant. I also noticed how it made my skin less oily. You can get authentic The Ordinary skincare products at BeautyMnl, Zalora, and LOOK At Me PH.

Dito sa atin classic skincare staple ng marami ang bar soap. Kahit kami sa bahay, we have soaps for washing our hands, lathering up in the shower, and cleansing bars and beauty soaps formulated specifically for washing our face. At kagaya rin ng ibang produkto na ginagamit natin, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all bar soap. Good thing na marami ng brands and businesses ang nago-offer ng mga beauty soaps depending on our specific skin needs like Koii Cosmetics. Koii Cosmetics is a cosmetics company that focuses on providing affordable and high-quality products from body care, makeup, and more. Kasama sa kanilang body care line are their Premium Beauty Soaps. These are handmade and luxurious beauty soaps for everyday cleansing, exfoliating, rejuvenating, acne, and more. They sent me their 6 Premium Beauty Soaps including Green Cacao (Anti-Acne & Moisturizing), Lovely Berry (Whitening, Bleaching & Exfoliating), Zesty Lemon (Anto-Bacterial & Anti-Acne), Activated Charcoal (Whitening & Rejuvenating), and my favorites Blue Berry (Whitening & Exfoliating) and Rich Coffee (Rejuvenating & Moisturizing). I love that they provide rich lather, leaves my skin feeling clean, gently exfoliated, and moisturized. Plus, they give subtle, refreshing scent as well. As for the whitening effects, I haven't noticed anything yet but hopefully with regular use I'll be able to see a more radiant complexion. You can get these luxurious soap products at an incredible 40% off exclusively on Shopee until August 31, 2023. Priced at P90 each (From P149).

Ilang brightening products na rin ang nagawan ko ng review in the past particularly brightening serums. Although, most of them talaga come in hefty price tags. Pero syempre, expensive doesn’t necessarily mean it's more effective. As a matter of fact, my current holy grail brightening serum is an affordable one. It's the Y.O.U Beauty The Radiance White Nourishing+Serum which is an intense serum which claims to deeply nourish, reduce dark spots, brighten, and strengthen the skin barrier. PROS ●Comes in a pretty and lux white glass bottle with a dropper ●Has a fluid, creamy texture that glides effortlessly onto the skin ●Absorbs well after a couple of minutes ●Has little to no fragrance ●Doesn't cause any irritation on my skin ●Leaves skin feeling soft and smooth ●Has a gentle firming effect ●Evens out skin tone ●Gives the skin a glowy and bouncy feel CONS ●Doesn’t provide the level of hydration I prefer ●May feel a little tacky on the skin I fell in love with this serum as it's one of the very few that I've tried that looks incredible under makeup but also feels comfortable, light, and silky when worn alone with regular skin care. I have been using it day and night. Although it doesn't leave the skin super moisturised, but I just love that it makes my skin look healthy and glowy. Y.O.U Beauty The Radiance White Nourishing+Serum is priced at P499. It's available on Shopee and Lazada, and select Watsons stores nationwide.
I know I just posted my current skincare routine, plus some products that I've been using. But here I am with a review of a product that I've been testing out for weeks now. It's the very first skincare product I've tried from Aivee Skin which is the skincare line of the dermatological center na may impressive list of celebrity and high-profile clients - Aivee Clinic. It's their Aivee Skin Clarity Gel which contains alpha-lipoic acid to provide protection from free radical damages, calendula to soothe inflammation and aloe vera to hydrate the skin. PROS ●Comes in clean white plastic packaging with a handy and hygienic pump dispenser ●Has a liquidy gel texture that is neither too runny nor too thick ●Has a comforting scent with flowery notes ●Absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue ●Does not cause any irritation on my skin ●Leaves the skin velvety smooth to the touch ●Evens out the skin tone ●Fades acne spots faster ●Reduces redness CONS ●Quite expensive ●Not enough emollient for dry skin I apply this morning and evening after serum. My friend was right when she told me that this clarity gel helped calm down the redness on her face. I have some acne spots which become less prominent after using this. My skin also feels smoother and rejuvenated. I would suggest though that if you have dry skin, pair it with other hydrating and moisturizing products. You can shop this Aivee Skin Clarity Gel priced at P2,550 (30ml) at www.theaiveeclinic.com/boutique.
Hindi man ako skincare expert, I believe in a simple skincare routine without too many steps. Personally kasi, I am more likely to stick to it if it's not too complicated. Plus, I'll be able to see results with consistent use. If you're also a makeup wearer na kagaya ko, you know that if our skin is in good shape, any makeup we apply on top of it will look much better. Good skin is definitely key to flawless makeup application. Mahigit isang taon na rin since I've shared my skincare routine. Actually, I have not been trying a lot of new products, a lot of these are tried-and-true products that work for my sensitive, combination skin for years and years. Although, there are maybe 2 I've added not too long ago which were either sent to me by the brand or recommended by my favorite influencer. Cleanser (Morning & Night): ACNE AID Liquid Cleanser, P250 A gentle cleanser that controls oil and removes excess makeup and dirt off my face leaving it nice and clean. Exfoliator (Night): AXIS-Y PHA Resurfacing Glow Peel, P699 I apply this twice a week and after each use of this gentle gel-water peel, my skin looked brighter and felt softer and smoother. Toner (Morning & Night): Celeteque Alcohol-free Toner Hydration, P136 A basic and affordable watery toner that refreshes my skin and removes remnant impurities very well. Facial Spray (Morning): Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, P595 Leaving my skin feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, and it smells heavenly. Serum (Morning & Night): COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, P970 It's slimy but lightweight and provides wonderful plumping and soothing effects. Eye Cream (Night): Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel EX, P1,900 A great gel cream that leaves the delicate skin around my eyes hydrated, smooth, and supple. Moisturizer (Night): Celeteque Facial Moisturizer Hydration, P155 It moisturizes my skin without feeling greasy. Plus, it's lightweight and budget-friendly. Sunscreen (Morning): Dazzle Me Attack On Sun! Sunscreen SPF 50 PA ++++, P199 Aside from its broad spectrum coverage, it also provides fast absorption and sits beautifully on top of moisturizer and underneath makeup products. Share nyo na rin if you've tried any of these products.
Kailangan lang maglagay ng sunscreen kung lalabas ng bahay at kung may araw pa, at hindi na kailangang maglagay ng sunscreen araw araw. These are probably some of our misconceptions about sunscreen. Kasi aaminin ko, sunscreen was never part of my everyday beauty routine. I would only apply it when I know that I'll be outside for extended periods of time. Pero ngayon aware na ako that sunscreen go beyond protecting my skin from the sun and the many reasons why it’s a good idea to actually wear it every day - maaraw man, maulap or kahit maulan. ●Shields the skin from harmful UV rays ●Protects the skin from sunburn ●Reduces the signs of aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines, sunspots, and hyperpigmentation ●Reduces the risk of skin cancer Although the effects of sunscreen may not be noticeable at first, but it will pay off long-term. I also understand na ang iba siguro sa inyo medyo skeptical maglagay ng sunscreen as most of them feel sticky or leave white cast on the skin. If I were to recommend a sunscreen that is incredibly lightweight, quick-absorbing, doesn't interfere with makeup, doesn't leave a white residue, but instead leaves a lovely glow on the skin, and provides broad spectrum coverage and excellent protection against UVA - it's the Dazzle Me Attack On Sun! Sunscreen SPF 50 PA ++++. This susncreen is available in Lazada, Shopee, TikTok Shop, Watsons, and Robinsons. Priced at P398.

WHY STARTER KITS ARE MY FAVORITE WAY TO TRY NEW SKINCARE + RECOMMENDATION As much as I enjoy sharing my experiences on the different products I'd used particularly skincare products. At the end of the day, what works for my skin might not work for your specific skin. Finding a skincare that works for our skin is a tricky process. It’s truly an experiment. Based on my experience, kailangan ko talagang ma-test yung product on my own skin, to determine if it’s something my skin likes. May mga risks lalo na if you have sensitive skin, you may have an unwanted reaction to an ingredient. Plus, financial risks as you have to buy these products na kung hindi mag-work that's essentially money wasted. This is exactly why I love skincare starter kits! ●Offer perfect opportunity to try new products at a lower cost ●Travel-sized skincare or mini is easier to use up than a regular-sized one if that particular product did not work for your skin ●Fun as you can try several products at once ●Open doors to trying new brands ●Make it easy to keep beauty routine strong when on-the-go If I could recommend one skincare starter kit that can give a full routine that is not overwhelming and might be effective for many skin types without having to break the bank - that would be Dear Klairs Skincare Trial Kit. The kit consists of four products; Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil (30ml), Gentle Black Facial Cleanser (20ml), Supple Preparation Unscented Toner (30ml), and Rich Moist Soothing Cream (20ml). I love the Black Fresh Cleansing Oil as it's an excellent first step in my cleansing routine, it's lightweight, and very gentle on my skin. Plus, it works well in removing even the more stubborn parts of my makeup. I also love their Rich Moist Soothing Cream. It's rich but doesn't feel heavy. It gives my skin the right amount of hydration and makes my skin insanely soft and smooth. You can get these skincare minis at beautymnl.com.
Share nyo na rin mga ka-grocery moms if you also like getting skincare starter kits. Hindi ko alam kung bakit hindi ko agad nai-share sa inyo ang review ko on this skincare product considering this has been a staple in my routine for quite some time now. Siguro kasi this is not a new product, but definitely a cult-favorite face mask particularly for glowing skin. It's the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Face Mask. This wash off mask claims to exfoliate and brighten lacklustre complexions, using pumpkin enzyme and alpha hydroxy acid for chemical exfoliation and aluminium oxide crystals for physical exfoliation. Like I said, ilang beses ko na siyang na-apply sa skin ko. I normally use it once a week lang for a skin pick-me-up. So keep on reading to know why this has hands-down become my favorite mask ever! PROS ●The mini comes in a light plastic tub with a screw on lid ●Has a gritty gel-paste consistency ●Has super fine exfoliating crystals ●Has a nice pumpkin scent that's not crazy strong ●Smooths across the skin easily ●Doesn’t break me out CONS ●Pricey This is one of those exfoliating product that definitely tingles quite a lot while it’s on for 5-7 minutes. When I first felt it, I got a bit scared but it settles eventually. After use, I am always blown away by how soft and radiant my skin looks. I like to use it when I know my period is coming up and I want to minimize my breakouts, or if I have active breakouts that I want cleared up. I know that this mask is quite pricey, but you can tell they carefully select ingredients and formulate products that work. I only use this mask once a week, so I know this mask will really last me a long time. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Face Mask is available at their official Lazada store for P1,300 (50ml) or at Sephora Philippines.
Share nyo na rin mga ka-grocery moms what your favorite exfoliating product is. It's been a hot minute since the last time I did a review on a skincare product. Siguro kasi I haven't really been using that many new products in my routine. Pero recently I discovered a brand that is new to me, and they sent over a product na bago lang din sa akin. It's actually from a Korean skincare brand, Axis-Y. Axis-Y is a clean, natural, cruelty-free, and a climate-inspired skincare brand na sa pagkakaintindi ko, it means they formulated their products with carefully curated ingredients for different climate and skin types. Ang focus din ng mga products nila is to combat environmental aggressors and skin stressors kagaya ng pollution and UV damage. The very first product na na-try ko na from them is this Axis-Y PHA Resurfacing Glow Peel which claims to gently exfoliates the skin and clears the pores to reveal rejuvenated skin. I use it once a week and mga four times ko na siyang na-apply sa skin ko. PROS ●Comes in a sleek, clean and minimal packaging with a pump ●Has a watery gel texture that's very lightweight ●Fragrance-free ●Easy to apply ●Rinse off easily ●Leaves the skin feeling clean and fresh ●Gentle on the skin CONS ●Can leave the skin feeling a little dry I think it's the first time I've tried a gel-water peel product, and I was really surprised with its consistency that's very soothing and stimulating. Post rinse, my skin feels really fresh and radiant. Although, it does dry out my skin a little, so I don't think it's suitable for people with super dry skin. Overall, I love this product as it gives my skin that instant glow and my skin texture has definitely improved with every use. Axis-Y PHA Resurfacing Glow Peel is priced at P699. Available at BeautyMnl, or your can shop thru the link in their bio at @axisy_philippines on Instagram.
In the past mga ka-grocery moms, hindi ako masyadong interested sa paggamit ng mga facial mists, or hindi ko lang siguro ma-gets yung purpose nila; not until I was gifted a set of three Mario Badescu facial sprays which are cult favorites of makeup artists and skin care junkies. I particularly fell in love with the Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater. It's definitely a refreshing hydrating mist that leaves my skin glowy and re-energized. Ang hindi ko lang nagustuhan was it does not spray an even, fine mist, but instead an uneven spray with some larger droplets. This is why I decided to look for a similar product but with a super fine mist that distributes water evenly. Isa ang Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist sa mga top recommended products online. Kaya naman na-excite ako when I got to try it. This Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist claims to provide ultimate skin radiance and makeup enhancement. I've been using it 2-3 times a day for weeks now to refresh my skin or set my makeup. ●Comes in a nice bottle where the spray nozzle is at the bottom ●Has a dual formula - the nourishing-oil layer and the water-based active extracts ●Has a micronized spray ●Smells like a fresh watermelon ●Mist feels extremely light and fine ●Instantly hydrates and refreshes the skin ●Can be used throughout the day This is one of those products that I put on top of my desk and use it at any time of the day. It's a convenient solution for when I just want to hydrate my skin and brighten up my complexion. I'm in love with its fresh, fruity scent and the best part has got to be its ultra-fine mist! I can mist this so many times without making my skin feel soaking wet. Plus, it doesn't mess up with makeup. Although I must say, it's definitely on the pricey side. If you're interested on trying this Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist, it's available at Hermosa Beauty for P2,105. You may visit their website at hermosabeautystore.com.
